The original surface route to the Scarface (161d) entrance of Kaninchenhöhle pioneered in 1996 had some short roped climbs. The upper two of these were later bypassed, but the final one is still on the route, and definitely requires a handline in the wet or when carrying gear. Here, Gunilla Andrée descends the last climb, not far above the entrance.
Behind is the large fault-guided valley which stretches from the
Hochklapf Sattel to the Wildensee. Clearly visible is the path which climbs
out of the 172m deep closed depression in this valley, up to Augstwiesen
Alm, where a cluster of huts can be seen in the summer pasture.
