Julian says:

The documentation is on a wiki so there is no excuse for anyone not to contribute to it, and free me up for more programming, which is the bit other people are less likely to be able to do.

If you are making a serious attempt to get Tunnel to work, and you get stuck, you're supposed to email me (julian-AT-goatchurch.org.uk) before you give up, not after. Perhaps there is some necessary improvement to the documentation which you know about and I obviously don't. I've met a number of people who have tried this system out, got stuck, and then given up for good, but only told this to me a year later. Needless to say, my sympathy is somewhat muted. If I don't hear about the problems, how can they get fixed?

Also, long and detailed declarations about how the user interface ought to work from people who aren't willing to master the user interface in the form it currently is, are similarly irrelevant to the project. All computer programs are products of styles and awkward compromises. Even the best systems can be extremely irritating when they actively challenge bad and wasteful habits -- which they should. Discussions on that level of engagement are very rare and always welcome.
